Monsoon Vermont® started working with Jakarta's scavenger projects through the YE Water Program just less than two years ago and we are seeing a wall of water right now. It's time to find out if we either have a very large straw from which to sip or find out if we know how to surf. There is a lot of potential in this massive wave. An expression I was once told by a woman who hiked by herself deep into the Vermont woods and jumped off of tall waterfalls to ‘cool off’ comes to me now: she said, “You can go to the ocean with a teaspoon, or you can go with a teacup.”

The Monsoon Vermont® Scavenger Project, the people, the scavengers, the sewers, the organizers, YE Water Program and our goods, are lifted up by this wave. We are riding the wave and we are using a teacup.

I suspect if you have made it this far in the newsletter, you are a great supporter of ours. We thank you so deeply, from the bottoms of our hearts for bringing us this far. You are the water in the wave.

Today and right now, I am feeling the quenching waters of an oasis that sits in the midst of a world hard hit by those who get control of the wheel too often. Those who hold their fingers in the dike and say ‘Water water, everywhere, but not a drop to drink.’

Hopelessness is easy. Finding a reason to hope gives us two oars in the water, we feel the lift, and we are moving forward, we are lifted up, we are surfing the big wave.
